Arts and humantities vs STEM. Why is it a competition?

Charlotte Pearson

There has been a lot of controversy over the past couple of days caused by Nicky Morgan’s comments at the Your Life campaign. There has been a backlash from the arts and humanities communities as her comments downgraded these subject areas and instead proclaimed that the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects were the way to keep young people’s options open. Yes, there is a place for these subjects but there are also places for the arts and humanities that are equally important and are just as valuable at STEM subjects.

I cannot understand for one thing how you can value certain subjects based on the earning potential of the jobs they can lead to. There are many people who studied arts and humanities who make a good living, a living that they are happy with, in a field that they love. For many people the sciences and maths are…

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; By whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance, and patience, experience; and experience, hope. And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Ghost, who was given to us.”(Romans 5:1-5)

Nowadays we hear and receive lots of information on television, newspapers and magazines. We hear about wars, murders, crimes, human rights violations. On many of the trips that I do I discover people who trust their lives in different beliefs as well as others who lost or were born without believing in something bigger. And as much as, shock me, I hear from people that God is dead or does not exist.

I believe that God is not dead. But it can raise several issues to those who do not believe. I can say that deep inside I feel the move of a supernatural power, which affects all aspects of my life. Christ lives in me and I feel Him everywhere.

But probably you are saying how could you experience such glory and move in your life having so many battles and problems plaguing your life?

God is good and his grace is infinite, but to feel the Lord’s move in our lives, it is necessary to have a relationship with him.

What is a relationship?

A relationship with Christ is not something forced. It’s something we want. I have a relationship with my wife and daughter because I give myself without expecting something in return. I take care of them without expecting thanks. I act on their welfare only because I want to see the happiness and well-being in their daily life. The same applies to the relationship between us and Christ. We need to know firsthand that He gave himself for us, for our sakes on the cross so that we did not live in fear of sin. These same sins have been forgiven at the cross. So Christ wants us to live a life full of abundance, following his word and his most important commandments… “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind “…” Love your neighbor as yourself… “(Matthew 22: 34-40)

Here we see that our delivery has no basis in law or must be forced on us by religion, but it must be mirrored in the love of Christ. He gave up love for us on the cross and we should surrender to His will and His love. This delivery allows Him to come and live in our hearts. Christ wants the best for us. He wants to get in your heart break the hatred and suffering, relieve us from all sin and guilt and make us live in the Glory of God.

Take a chance. Accept Jesus into your heart, close your eyes, put your hand on your heart and say, whisper softly… Jesus comes to live in my heart. I want to have a relationship with you. And believe the glory of the Lord will be poured into your life and the love of God will change your life. Forget laws, religions, dogmas, and follow what is most important… Jesus, because He is the Glory and Grace.

That is why JESUS IS ALIVE.

… “Jesus said to him: Have I been with you for so long, and you have not known me, Philip? The person who has seen me has seen the Father! How can you say, “show us the Father?(John 14:9)

Jesus came to reveal the Father to us. He came to show us a living God. If you want to know what God thinks about you or what God would say about your sins, or how God would respond if you were face to face with him, just look at Jesus and you will know…

Sometimes we believe in something or someone for a long time and suddenly something happens and your belief goes down or even disappear.

Yesterday I watched a movie where a girl has been Christian her whole life and then she and boyfriend have a plane crash. He dies and she survived, but most of her body was burned.
After recovering, she goes to her church and she says that she doesn’t believe in God anymore!
Afterwards, she goes on an adventure and she discovers herself and find out: She believes in God and now she knows her mission on earth. She will help others, that are going through difficult situations, to go over it. Why? She now has the experience and the strength to do it!

I believe in various things, but my rock and my strength is my hero Jesus. My faith is in Him! He gives the direction that I need in my life, to my family, in good and bad moments/ situations.

Of course, in life we are always learning if we willing to. And I’ve learned that whatever others say or whatever their beliefs are, we need to keep our own beliefs.
Mine no one is going to take it from me!
Wait a second, this doesn’t mean that sometimes like the girl in the movie you don’t have questions and doubts. But after that time may be your faith is going to be stronger!

I’ve had difficult experiences in my life and through Jesus, I overcome those situations and I now can say: I believe in Him. He is my rock and my direction!

Seasons – Spring!

Spring is the best season of the year!
I look around and my eyes are blessed by all the nature. The flowers, trees with all those beautiful blossoms, the green fields, better weather ( sometimes…) and sunlight until later.
I feel much better and happier! Do you feel the same?

To be honest the important is how you feel inside about yourself, how your life and family go. However, what is outside around you influences you!

Spring is a beautiful season. Perhaps a new beginning, a new start, a new chapter in your life. When the things start to flourish!
I just love it and I live it!
What is your favorite season?

Rubbish to the floor. Mission: embellishing the planet!

Look around and check the streets and pathways that you use daily. Observe. Are they clean? Or there’s a lot of rubbish embellishing it??
If I look around unfortunately I can see empty drink cans, bottles, pack of crisps, papers, loads of rubbish that should be in the bins provided by the council or something similar!!
Instead, people just throw it to the floor as the floor could clean itself afterwards!! I observe this every day for instance, people leaving a store and here it is, let’s put the plastic that covers the cigarette box straight to the floor!! It’s so easy, isn’t it?
This is a rubbish behavior. Who told people the floor, it’s a big bin then?
I wonder if people at home, they do the same or if they use their bins?
This is for me a disrespectful way to treat the planet, the environment, the streets where you live and the others that need to use the same streets as you!
If you don’t have a bin next to you, just keep the thing with you, put it in your bag, pocket and later put it in the bin. That’s  why bins were made for… It’s so easy, but not common…

Kids are learning in school to look after the planet and maybe they will teach others how to use the bins. Hopefully!

Let’s wait and see.
Meanwhile, let’s be mindful about the planet:)

Multi task women- hands and brain working 24/7

Women are multitask by nature!
What a creation!

Women are so strong whether physically, mentally and spiritually speaking. I don’t know how but sometimes 24 hrs are transformed in 48 hrs work!
Women are no stop workers. 24/7 over 24/7 and a smile in your face! Or not..
After a few hours of sleep and you get yourself  quickly ready, then wake up the kids, prepare or prompt them depending on their age, breakfast ready, school runs, work and afterwards school runs again, bath/shower the kids, pajamas, dinner, story and bedtime, lunch boxes ready for the next day, school clothes clean, kitchen work…

Oh, I’m already dizzy! Is not too much.
It is, but women are capable to do all this. They are like superheroes but with no visibility.
But wait a moment, let’s put some brackets here! Thank God men, real men are nowadays part of the job.

Uff!! This doesn’t mean that women are no more multi task. Things are more and more divided within a couple! Men don’t feel less man if they are part of the family with everything that includes.
I’m lucky as my husband is himself multi task and I must confess he does the things better than me..

Are you a multi task woman that work 24/7?
Do you have a man that divides the work at home?
